The City of Glendale, Colorado chooses Avrio Group to design and deploy a citywide mesh network and video surveillance solution.
Easton, Maryland-July 20, 2007- Avrio Group announced today that the City of Glendale, Colorado has selected Avrio Group to design and deploy a citywide mesh network and video surveillance solution which will be used for public safety. The solution uses an open and non-proprietary approach to incorporate cameras from around the city as well as from the new Rugby stadium and existing buildings. Video will be able to be viewed from anywhere on the city’s network – even from mobile police cruisers.
“While rugby is the primary sport at Infinity Park, other public and private events are encouraged. Because the park is easily accessible to many primary Denver thoroughfares, it will be recognized as a favorite destination for sports, adventure, community gatherings and businesses alike. In fact, it is estimated that Infinity Park will attract more than 250 thousand visitors a year,” explains Mike Dunafon, Mayor Pro Tem of Glendale.
“We want those visitors to have the best experience possible so we chose the best of the best for everything involved with the stadium, including security. Avrio Group was selected based on their past experience in deploying high-end video surveillance solutions. We were impressed that cities around the country have brought in Avrio Group to design and deploy video surveillance systems including Phoenix when that city was dealing with a serial murderer,” says Dunafon. Glendale is making history with their new stadium and Avrio Group is honored to be involved,” says Mark Jules, President of Business Development for Avrio.
“We really like the flexibility and scalability that Avrio Group’s system provides,” says Dunafon. The foundation of the system is Avrio Group’s Rapid Deployment (RD) POLECAM, a single “plug-and-play” device that contains a high end camera, a wireless mesh node and all components needed to hang the unit on a pole or building. The system also allows for integration with other systems such as access control and gun shot detection and allows video to be pushed to anyone on the network based on an event such as a gate opening.
